What types of content can I display?

Imagine supports a wide range of content formats, giving you plenty of flexibility when creating informative, engaging, and varied digital displays.

Supported content includes:

  • Images (including JPG and PNG)
  • Videos (including MP4, MOV, and AVI)
  • PowerPoint presentations
  • PDF documents
  • Web pages
  • HTML content
  • Live dashboards
  • Content widgets

You can also create or edit designs through Imagine’s Canva integration, save them to your media library, and add them directly to your playlists.

Before preparing a large campaign, check the recommended file formats, resolutions, dimensions, and size limits for your player and screen. If you are using unusually encoded videos or non-standard screen dimensions, test a sample first to make sure everything displays as intended.

How should I prepare images for digital signage?

Start with the screen itself. A standard landscape display usually uses a 16:9 aspect ratio, such as 1920 × 1080 pixels, while a portrait screen reverses that relationship to 9:16. If your screen has an unusual shape, create the artwork to its exact dimensions rather than forcing a standard design to fit.

Keep the most important text large, use strong colour contrast, and leave enough space around key information so it remains easy to read from the normal viewing distance. Before publishing across your network, preview the artwork on the installed screen and check that nothing appears stretched, cropped, or too small.

How should I prepare videos?

Prepare your video for the screen and player that will actually show it. Use a supported format (MP4, MOV, or AVI) and resolution, compress the file sensibly, and avoid an unnecessarily high bitrate that increases download and processing demands without improving the picture viewers can see.

Before publishing, check that:

  • The aspect ratio matches the screen
  • The video starts and ends cleanly
  • Important messaging still makes sense without sound
  • The full file plays smoothly on the intended player
  • The video length works within the wider playlist

If you are planning a large rollout or using high-resolution video, send us a sample and the player details first. We can help confirm the most suitable settings before you prepare the full campaign.

Can I display PowerPoint presentations?

PowerPoint presentations should generally be exported before you upload them. Save static slides as images or a PDF, or export the presentation as a video if animations and movement are important.

This creates more predictable playback because the screen does not need PowerPoint installed, and fonts, transitions, or layouts are less likely to change unexpectedly. Check the exported version from beginning to end before adding it to your playlist, especially if individual slides contain detailed text.

Can I display websites on my screens?

Yes. Imagine’s website widget allows you to display online content directly on your digital signage screens. This can be your own website or another publicly accessible site, provided you have permission to display its content.

Websites can be shown in several formats, including:

  • Full-page view
  • Close-up view
  • Mobile view
  • Wide view
  • Automatic scrolling
  • Bounce scrolling

This is useful for live dashboards, menus, timetables, property listings, event information, partner content, booking pages, and other web-based information that changes regularly.

Because website content is live, an internet connection is required to retrieve updates. It is also worth testing the page on your actual screen, as some websites may require a login, block third-party display, or may not be designed for clear viewing from a distance.

Can I organise and filter my content?

Absolutely. You can create folders and subfolders to organise your content in a way that reflects how your business works. As your media library grows, this becomes increasingly important, especially when several users, branches, clients, or campaigns share the same account.

You might organise folders according to:

  • Brands or departments
  • Campaigns
  • Regions or branches
  • Content types
  • Clients
  • Current and expired content

You can also filter files by:

  • Upload date
  • The person who uploaded them
  • File format
  • File size
  • Alphabetical order

Use clear filenames and agree on a simple folder structure that everyone can follow. Ideally, any team member should be able to find the latest approved content without uploading another copy or asking where it has been saved. A well-organised library saves time, reduces duplication, and makes ongoing content management far more efficient.

Can I upload several files at once?

Yes. Bulk upload and drag-and-drop tools make it quicker to add a complete campaign or a batch of new assets to your library. Allow all files to finish uploading and processing before you publish them, particularly when you are working with large videos or a slower connection.

Once the upload is complete, take a moment to check the filenames, orientation, previews, and any start or expiry information. For a large campaign, test a representative image and video on the intended player before sending everything across the network.

Can several users manage content?

Yes. Multiple people can work in Imagine, which is useful when content is created, approved, and published by different teams or locations. Each person should have their own account rather than sharing one login.

For a larger team, decide who is responsible for:

  • Uploading and organising media
  • Creating or editing content
  • Approving campaigns
  • Publishing changes
  • Reviewing expired or outdated material

Individual accounts and appropriate permissions make responsibilities clearer and provide a more useful record of who changed what.

Can I upload and manage content from my mobile phone?

Yes. Imagine’s CMS can be accessed from your mobile phone, tablet, or computer, allowing you to upload and manage content wherever you are.

The platform is mobile-friendly, so you can use a phone or tablet to:

  • Upload images, videos, and other supported files
  • Organise content in your media library
  • Add or update playlist items
  • Publish important content changes
  • Check and manage your screens remotely

This is particularly useful when you are away from your desk and need to publish an urgent update, upload content from an event, or make a quick change while visiting a branch.

How does the Canva integration work?

Imagine’s Canva integration allows you to create and edit designs without leaving the platform. Once a design is saved to your Imagine library, you can add it to playlists like any other media item.

If you later edit that connected Canva design, the updated version can flow through to the playlists and screens where it is already being used. This is particularly useful for regular changes to prices, menus, trading hours, campaign dates, and notices because you do not have to export and upload a new file every time.

Always preview an important change before it goes live, and make sure the Canva design uses the correct dimensions for the intended screen.

Can I reuse content across screens and campaigns?

Yes. Store reusable brand assets and evergreen content in your media library, then add the same item to different playlists or campaigns instead of uploading a new copy each time. This keeps the library tidier and makes future updates easier to manage.

Before reusing an item, check that it suits the screen’s orientation, resolution, audience, and location. A design created for a landscape reception screen may not work on a portrait display, and a national message may still need a local variation. Keep the original creative file outside the platform too, so future design changes remain straightforward.

Is there a storage limit?

Storage depends on your Imagine software plan. The free Starter plan includes 100 MB of media storage, while paid plans include unlimited storage for digital signage content.

Unlimited storage is intended for content that has been displayed, is currently in use, or is genuinely planned for use across your screens. It should not be used as general cloud storage for unrelated files.

All uploaded content must also comply with Imagine’s terms of use. Content that breaches these terms may be removed from the platform.

Can deleted content be recovered?

Unfortunately, no. Imagine does not retain backup copies of deleted media, so once a file has been removed from your library, it cannot be recovered.

Before deleting anything, check that it is no longer needed in a playlist, campaign, or future schedule. We also recommend keeping copies of your original images, videos, PDFs, and Canva files in your organisation’s own storage or backup system.
